Karunya University

A Vision Realized Through Faith

Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences was co-founded by Dr. Paul Dhinakaran on 4 October 1986, driven by a divine mandate to create an institution that would raise bright young leaders equipped with discernment and ability to solve the wider problems of humanity through innovation in science and technology.

The founding year was marked by profound personal sacrifice — the tragic loss of Dr. Paul's sister Angel in a car accident. Yet through faith and determination, the institution was established on a sprawling 720-acre campus near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Karunya achieved autonomy in 1999 as the first self-financing institution in India to do so, gained Deemed University status in 2004, and has since earned NAAC A++ accreditation — the highest grade — along with rankings in QS World University Rankings Asia.
